The Student Health Plan provides comprehensive mental health benefits that provides a holistic approach to health, wellness, and the intersection of mental health. 

The plan offers three tiers of mental health coverage to fit your individual needs.

In-Network Mental Health Coverage

  • Inpatient: 90% covered, 10% Your out-of-pocket share for the costs of a covered health care service, subject to An out-of-pocket expense you would need to pay during a 1 year coverage period before your plan begins to pay at an in-network or out-of-network rate.
  • Outpatient (in office): 100% covered with a $10 A fixed amount (for example, $15) you pay for a covered health care service, usually when you receive the service. per visit, $0 deductible
  • Outpatient (in facility): 90% covered, 10% coinsurance, subject to deductible 
  • Referral requirement: waived 
  • Claim filing: copay is due at the time of appointment, and the provider will submit the claim to the insurance plan on your behalf 

Out-of-Network Mental Health Coverage

  • Inpatient: 70% covered, 30% Your out-of-pocket share for the costs of a covered health care service, $0 A fixed amount (for example, $15) you pay for a covered health care service, usually when you receive the service., subject to An out-of-pocket expense you would need to pay during a 1 year coverage period before your plan begins to pay at an in-network or out-of-network rate., and subject to any amount that exceeds the allowable amount for that service.  
  • Outpatient (in office): 70% covered, 30% coinsurance, $0 co-pay, subject to deductible
  • Outpatient (in facility): 70% covered, 30% coinsurance, $0 co-pay, subject to deductible 
  • Referral requirement: waived 
  • Claim filing: You pay the provider upfront and then file a claim by mail or electronically to Aetna for reimbursement of the expense.

Exclusive Provider Network (EPN) Mental Health Coverage

  • Initial intake consultation: 100% covered, $0 A fixed amount (for example, $15) you pay for a covered health care service, usually when you receive the service., $0 An out-of-pocket expense you would need to pay during a 1 year coverage period before your plan begins to pay at an in-network or out-of-network rate.
  • Outpatient (in office): 100% covered with a $10 copay per visit, $0 deductible
  • Referral requirement: waived 
  • Claim filing: copay is due at the time of appointment, and the provider will submit the claim to the insurance plan on your behalf
